Honey Bee Swarm Removal

Honey Bee Swarms

Honey Bee swarms are very common certain times of the year. If you encounter a honey bees swarm hanging on a branch, bush or other area, contact a Beekeeper for removal. Someone from our Swarm Team will respond.  This includes established hives in walls, soffits or other areas.   Use our contact form or call us at 352-446-9328.  We will be able to connect you with one of our Beekeepers.

Honey bee swarms are normally non-aggressive. They are focused on finding their new home, are full of honey and nectar, and do not have a hive to protect.

What Not To Do If You Have A Swarm/Established Hive

Don’t poke, prod or attempt to remove the bees yourself. There will be thousands of them. Avoid panic and sudden movements, give them their space.

Don’t spray the bees with insecticide, water, or other suggestions you may find on the internet. They will not effectively remove the swarm and the remaining bees will become aggressive.

Don’t block their flight path when observing them. They need to move freely while scouting for their new home or entering their hive.

Don’t call a pest control company. Most of them will not exterminate honey bees and it’s bad for the bees and the environment.

Last, don’t ignore the honey bee swarm. They will eventually move on but they may end up in a undesirable location such as in a wall, soffit, or other structure.

By avoiding these actions, you can ensure your safety and the safety of the bees, and help in the proper relocation of the swarm by a professional Beekeeper.
